RACE CITY GOLF CARS is a full service golf car dealership. We sell new and used golf cars and utility cars and we have an extensive parts department. We offer parts and accessories, minor to major repairs as well as regular service maintenance to most popular brands and some for even the most unusual or discontinued brands. If your vehicle is operating just fine but it needs a facelift, we can upgrade and refurbish it to the performance or look you want. Don’t have a way to get your vehicle to us? RACE CITY GOLF CARS opened its doors in Mooresville, NC in March of 2004 just after 2 best friends, Neil Swaim and Brad Walsh, returned from a trip to the PGA show in Orlando, FL. The trip was inspiring needless to say, and the store was opened on a very small budget, starting with only 5 golf cars. The store originally opened under its corporate name of BRAD’s GOLF CARS & UTILITY VEHICLES, INC. named after one of the partners “Brad Walsh” which owns the partner store Brad’s Golf Car’s, Inc. located in Belews Creek, NC. The decision to do business as RACE CITY GOLF CARS was inspired by the name of the town which the business resides in. After all, who doesn’t know about “RACE CITY”? The Walsh family has been in the golf car business since the 1960’s. Since that time they have been involved in every aspect of the golf industry from golf course management and maintenance to complete golf car manufacturing and remanufacturing. Neil started out as a part time employee for Brad’s Golf Cars, Inc. in 1990 when he met Brad in college. Over time, learning and helping with research and development of accessories and sometimes performing field testing for factories such as Club Car. Since that time, Neil and Brad have enjoyed watching the golf cars evolve from simple 2 passenger machines to 4, 6 & 8 passenger people movers to lifted ATV like buggies.

Neil Swaim

Neil Swaim is the operating partner of RACE CITY GOLF CARS and he got his first taste of golf cars back in 1989 when he met his lifelong best friend and business partner Brad Walsh. Neil and Brad met in college and golf car manufacturing, sales and service was what the Walsh family was all about. Neil started out as a part time employee at Brad’s Golf Cars, Inc. and worked there while attending community college in Winston-Salem. Neil’s expertise is in Club Car, E-Z-GO and YAMAHA golf cars and utility vehicles and TOMBERLIN electric automobiles. Neil also has experience with other golf car manufacturers such as: HYUNDAI, COLUMBIA/PAR CAR, MELEX, and many other smaller companies.

Doug Phillips

Doug Phillips is the sales manager and accounts manager for RCGC’s. Doug retired from the shoe sales business in 2006 where he owned the HINES SHOES stores located in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Hickory. Doug has the business experience that has brought RCGC from a 25 car lot to a 200 car lot.

Scott Kinley

Scott Kinley is the man behind the scenes… he’s the main mechanic and assembler of the vehicles produced for sale. Scott started out as a good customer, buying 5 cars in 3 years, and when Scott would come back to trade or buy another; the cars that Scott had purchased and upgraded himself were superbly tweaked. Scott worked for a huge electric motor-starter and alternator repair facility as a repair technician in Charlotte, NC for 18 years and then installed automotive and commercial glass for 3 years in Charlotte and surrounding areas prior coming to work for RCGC in 2008. Scott’s hobbies were dirt track racing and messing around with golf cars and used automobiles. The combined experiences that Scott has been exposed to from employment and hobbies has given him the foundation to be an outstanding golf car repair technician and creative builder of custom golf cars.
